Surface Acoustic Wave Biosensor with Laser-Deposited Gold Layer Having Controlled Porosity

Laser-deposited gold immobilization layers having different porosities were incorporated into love wave surface acoustic sensors (LW-SAWs). Variation of pulsed laser deposition parameters allows good control the film morphology. Biosensors with various tested using biotin–avidin reaction. Control Au layer morphology is important since biotin and avidin morphologies closely follow that gold. The response to biotin/avidin, which a indicator biosensor performance, improved when has increased porosity. Given sizes proteins, laser-deposited porous interfaces have optimal pore dimensions ensure protein stability.
